The purpose of Electronic Components Drawer's Database is to conveniently provide information on where certain components are located and how many are left.
According to the design concept, the components are stored in bags. One component position can be stored in several bags and even in different locations. Component bags are usually stored in larger, location-coded bags. It is effectively an accounting system for an electronics development engineer component assortment.
This system is not conceptually a replacement for the materials accounting system of any company where that electronics developer might work. Unlike a company's materials accounting database, this system can also store information about components that cannot be used in production, but are suitable for schematic prototype and research.
